should he have known in advance, jayden might have considered signing up a different pokemon for the event. then again, it wasn't like he had a choice, it was the CBA — Clobbopus Boxing Association after all. It wasn't that he disliked Fyodor — only that he had not that much training with him, considering they had only met in the Safari Zone not too long ago.

[break][break] That being said, Fyodor was excited. The pokemon was clearly excited as it stood in the blue corner, smacking it's small sand-colored fists together. The pokemon had signed himself up for the tournament, which was largely why Jayden had been caught so off-guard with the sign-ups.

[break][break] Where as his opponent takes the last few minutes of the break to whisper words of encouragement, Jayden simply stands at the corner, observing their opponent. Fyodor needs no such encouragement — the pokemon is vibrating with energy, barely able to help it as he thrums with the valor of battle. BULK UP surges beneath his feet.

[break][break] "Go ahead, Fyodor."

[break][break] He nods, and the pokemon shuffles forward to the center of the ring. His eyes are bright with enthusiasm as he puts his fists up to prepare. RING! The bell sounds and Fyodor is quick to start, throwing the first jab.

his fist sails on open air as the other pokemon shifts out of the range of the jab. being energetic and confident is all well and good, but it does nothing for fyodor when it blinds him from the future that it's in front of him.

[break][break] something sharp gleams behind jayden's gaze. disappointment.

[break][break] not that he should be surprised, since the two of gotten minimal interaction as of yet.

[break][break] the fellow clobbopus is quick on the take and it is not enough time for fyodor to dodge with his own attack. the fist that squishes against his cheek forces him to make a little squeak, the sound comical if not for absolutely how serious this was! this was an official match. this was life or death!

[break][break] okay, maybe not quite.

[break][break] "fyodor," jayden's voice breaks through the quiet. "try again."

[break][break] his fist glows with the power of brick break as he aims another jab at his opponent.

her brick break comes sailing for his own head too, just moments later after his fist sailed into hers. this time, however, fyodor knows better. his eyes glow with the power of detect, just before he ducks out of the way of her jab.

[break][break] for jayden, there was a compliment in his words, if only the fact that he did not have anything more to say. approval flickered briefly in his eyes, before he looked back at angelo.

the left hook comes swinging, smashing into fyodor's jaw just as the bill rings and signals the end of the first match.

[break][break] as his clobbopus returns to his corner to recuperate, jayden's eyes flicker to the other. he gives a small nod. "nice work." after all, the other had won -- it was only polite.

[break][break] he wipes the sweat off of fyodor's brow and leans down to whisper something. it is unclear what jayden says but whatever he does makes the pokemon stand up straighter, something fierce flashing in his eyes. it's difficult to say what propelled him was fear or seriousness.

[break][break] either way, the second match begins and fyodor returns to the center of the ring once more. he once again surges with BULK UP before throwing the first punch.

the two are in a dead-locked, grappling inch for inch. the two clobbopus look nearly identical as they fight against one another.

[break][break] with each passing second, one pushes the other closer to their side. seconds later, the gain is lost as the other pushes them right back over. they're in a dead heat, and it's impossible to tell who will win.

[break][break] but fyodor makes a miscalculation.

[break][break] a muscle twists somewhere, and he hesitates. before he knows it, he's thrown to the floor with her submission and he finds himself staring up, dazed at the swirling stars of his opponent's gaze.

[break][break] the bell rings. the match is over. angelo vestri won.

[break][break] brushing off his pants, jayden walks over to the other side of the ring and offers his hand out. "congratulations," he says. jayden has always been nothing but polite.
